Shelby's Thesis

The epic hero, Beowulf, and the romantic hero, King Arthur, represent the values and ideals of their culture through the reputations depicted by others, their abundance of loyalty, and their individual deeds and accomplishments. Shown through Beowulf's ideas and reasons for fighting, Beowulf is able to portray his culture more effectively than King Arthur.
